Hello, it’s me, Petra Sedlmajerova. Or not exactly, it’s more of my business name, I guess. But, at the same time, it’s also me. You know what I mean, right?
A lot. I’ll give you an example. How do you think Google always finds the right answers for your questions? Huh? Spells and magic that is!
P.S. I know it’s not exactly pure magic, I should mention the algorithms and stuff, but…you never know.
I’ll tell you a secret, ok? Shhh. When I was searching for a domain that would contain the words digital marketing, the one ending with mage was one of the few that or didn’t cost thousands of $ or didn’t look like a code sent down to Earth from the outer space.
And also because I’m a little bit of a witch. The good kind, of course.

Well, now that we are done with the official and boring part, now let’s get to the whole story with colourful details.
I was born and raised in Czechoslovakia, in the Czech part which is now known as the Czech Republic. In 2010 this adventurous idea came to my mind and I’ve decided it might be a good idea to switch continents. I’ve packed one suitcase and one backpack and moved to Canada.
However easy that sounds I can assure you this journey had its ups and downs. A lot of downs, actually. Luckily, I survived it all and here I am.
Now, let’s get to the digital marketing part. It all started with me and my son in the stroller filled with Avon brochures. One day, as I was hanging the books on the doorknobs in the neighbourhood one of my clients shouted at me and asked me if I would be interested in helping her with some work. True story. And I said yes!
Turned out she was the owner of a local digital marketing agency and that’s how it all started. My first and biggest revelation was learning how the search engines actually work. I was disappointed. That was no magic involved in that at all. On the other hand it was quite intriguing and a whole new world opened up in front of me.
Search engine optimization, web design, social media, digital marketing, local SEO, ads, analytics or email marketing became part of my everyday life and seem to be here to stay.
I should mention one more thing. Ever since they taught me how to read in grade one I have never stopped. I suspect I went through all the books in my hometown’s library as a kid. And when I started making money I was buying and reading more books. Can you imagine what internet means to me? Never ending unlimited bookshelf. And most of the stuff is free!
Dreams come true and magic happens. I’m telling you.
Why I’m saying all this, you may ask? It’s simple, the digital world is constantly changing, things that worked last year might not work today, technology is taking quantum leaps and if you want to keep up, you have to keep learning, constantly. And, I guess that makes me the right person for the job.
